Amazon referral fee for Gift Cards (2026)
Amazon keeps 20% of every Gift Cards sale as its referral fee. There is no per-item minimum in this category. Here is what that comes to at the prices these products usually sell for, and what to watch when you set a price.
If you refund the buyer, Amazon gives back the referral fee less $2.00 (its refund administration fee).

What to watch when you price
- No price bands: every price pays 20%, so the fee moves with the price and there is no price edge to aim under.
- Shipping counts. The fee is on the total the buyer pays, so shipping and gift wrap the buyer pays on a merchant-fulfilled order are charged at this category's rate too. Sales tax isn't.
When you refund a buyer
Amazon gives back the referral fee minus its refund administration fee, the lesser of $5.00 or 20% of the referral fee. On a $50.00 Gift Cards sale, the $10.00 referral fee comes back as $8.00.
