Amazon FBA storage fee calculator
What your stock costs to keep in Amazon's warehouses for a month: the storage fee for standard-size and oversize items, the October to December peak, the storage utilization surcharge, and the aged inventory surcharge on units held over 180 days.
The same stock costs $43.99 a month from January to September and $135.36 from October to December, when Amazon's storage rates are highest.
How Amazon charges for storage
Amazon bills storage once a month, usually between the 7th and the 15th for the month before. There are up to three parts.
1. The monthly storage fee
Your average units in storage × the cubic feet of one packaged unit (length × width × height in inches ÷ 1,728) × the rate for the month. Standard-size items cost more per cubic foot than oversize ones, because they need shelves and bins.
| Per cubic foot | January to September | October to December |
|---|---|---|
| Standard-size | $0.78 | $2.40 |
| Oversize | $0.56 | $1.40 |
| Dangerous goods, standard-size | $0.99 | $3.63 |
| Dangerous goods, oversize | $0.78 | $2.43 |
2. The storage utilization surcharge
Only for Professional sellers who have used FBA for over a year, store more than 25 cubic feet, and hold more than 22 weeks of stock (your storage utilization ratio, on the FBA dashboard). It adds $0.44 to $1.88 per cubic foot for standard-size items ($0.23 to $1.26 for oversize) on units older than 30 days, rising with the ratio.
3. The aged inventory surcharge
On the 15th of each month Amazon counts units that have been in its warehouses 181 days or more (oldest first, whichever unit actually shipped) and charges on top of storage:
| Age | Per cubic foot | Or per unit, if more |
|---|---|---|
| 181 to 210 days | $0.50* | — |
| 211 to 240 days | $1.00* | — |
| 241 to 270 days | $1.50* | — |
| 271 to 300 days | $5.45 | — |
| 301 to 330 days | $5.70 | — |
| 331 to 365 days | $5.90 | — |
| 366 to 455 days | $6.90 | $0.30 |
| 456 days or more | $7.90 | $0.35 |
* Not charged on clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry and watches. The 366 to 455 day and 456 day bands started on January 16, 2026.
To avoid it, sell the old units through or file a removal order before 11:59 pm Pacific on the 14th: units in a removal order aren't counted, even if they haven't left yet.
