What changed on January 15, 2026
- FBA fulfillment fees went up about $0.08 a unit on average. Small standard items priced $10 to $50 rose about $0.25, over $50 about $0.51; items under $10 kept a bigger discount.
- Bulky items split into small bulky and large bulky with lower fees, and the Ships in Product Packaging discount for them was replaced by a packaging fee for items that can't ship as they are. Extra-large fees fell about $2.08 on average.
- Low-inventory-level fee now counts each FNSKU instead of the parent ASIN, applies to bulky items, and no longer applies to grocery.
- Aged inventory: the minimum for units 12 to 15 months old rose to $0.30, and a new band for units over 15 months charges $7.90 per cubic foot or $0.35 a unit.
- Inbound: placement fees with minimal splits rose about $0.05 a unit, with new weight bands for 3 to 20 lb items; shipments that don't arrive or arrive late pay one inbound defect fee instead of two fees.
- Removal and disposal of standard items up to 0.5 lb fell $0.20, to $0.84.
Removal and disposal fees
| Size | Shipping weight | Per unit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard-size | 0.5 lb or less | $0.84 |
| 0.5+ to 1 lb | $1.53 | |
| 1+ to 2 lb | $2.27 | |
| More than 2 lb | $2.89 + $1.06 per lb above 2 lb | |
| Large bulky, extra-large and special handling | 1 lb or less | $3.12 |
| 1+ to 2 lb | $4.30 | |
| 2+ to 4 lb | $6.36 | |
| 4+ to 10 lb | $10.04 | |
| More than 10 lb | $14.32 + $1.06 per lb above 10 lb |
Special handling covers items such as apparel, shoes, watches, jewelry and dangerous goods. The fee is set when you place the order and charged when the shipment leaves the warehouse.
Fees you can get back
- A fulfillment fee on the wrong size. When Amazon measures a product bigger or heavier than it is, every unit pays too much; Amazon's re-measurement tool corrects it and can reimburse the difference.
- A referral fee at the wrong rate. A product filed in the wrong fee category pays the wrong percentage on every sale: see referral fees by category.
- Units Amazon lost, damaged or never got back. Inventory lost or damaged in its warehouses, and refunds the buyer never returned, are Amazon's to pay: see FBA reimbursement rules.
MyProfit's free plan watches two of these for you: the fulfillment fee Amazon charges on every order against its measurements of each product, and refunds whose units never came back or came back damaged, with the case text ready.
