Amazon referral fees by category (2026)
Amazon keeps a referral fee on every item you sell: a percentage of the sale that depends on the category, with a $0.30 minimum in most. Here is every US category's rate, how the price bands work, and the smaller fees that come with it.
Rate for this category: 8% at $10 or less, 15% above $10. If you refund the buyer, Amazon gives back the referral fee less $0.16 (its refund administration fee).

How the price bands work
- The whole price at one rate. In Beauty, Health and Personal Care, Baby, Grocery and Clothing, the price decides the rate for the whole sale: a $9.99 face cream pays 8% ($0.80), a $10.99 one pays 15% ($1.65). Pricing just under a band edge can save more than the price cut.
- Each slice at its own rate. In Furniture, Jewelry, Watches, Electronics Accessories and the other "portion" categories, only the part of the price above the edge gets the lower rate. Amazon's example: a $7,000 watch pays 16% of $1,500 ($240) plus 3% of $5,500 ($165), $405 in all.
- The minimum. Most categories charge at least $0.30 per item, so a $1.49 item at 15% pays $0.30, not $0.22.
- The price includes shipping and gift wrap the buyer pays, but not sales tax Amazon collects.
The other selling fees
- Closing fee: $1.80 per item in books, music, DVD, software and video games, and video game consoles and accessories.
- Refund administration fee: when you refund a buyer, Amazon returns the referral fee minus the lesser of $5.00 or 20% of it. On a $10.00 item at 15%, the $1.50 referral fee comes back as $1.20.
- Selling plan: Professional is $39.99 a month while you have active listings; Individual has no monthly fee but adds $0.99 to every item sold.
- High-volume listing fee: $0.001 a month per SKU above 1.5 million.
FBA sellers also pay the FBA fulfillment fee, monthly storage fees and, for some shipments and products, the inbound placement fee, the low-inventory-level fee and the returns processing fee.

The rate follows the product's fee category, and a product filed in the wrong one pays the wrong rate on every sale.
