FBA refund reimbursement checker
When a buyer gets a refund and the unit never comes back, or comes back damaged by the carrier or a warehouse, Amazon owes you for it. It pays most of those by itself; the rest you have to claim, 60 to 120 days after the refund. Upload your payment and returns reports and see which refunds are still owed, and by when to claim them. Nothing is stored.
8 refunds in the reports: 2 came back fine or damaged by the buyer, 1 is under 60 days old (Amazon may still pay them itself). Amazon pays the refund less the order's fees.
Refunds to claim
File each one in Seller Central (FBA inventory reimbursements) before the date shown, with the order ID: Amazon checks the return itself.
| Order | SKU | Refunded | Why | Units | Refund | Claim by |

1 refund ($34.99) passed Amazon's 120-day limit without a reimbursement: too late to claim now.
Which reports to upload
- Payments: in Seller Central, Payments › Reports Repository › Date Range Reports › Transaction, the last six months, then download the CSV. Or the settlement report (Flat File V2) of each payout in those months, from Payments › All Statements. They hold the refunds and Amazon's reimbursements.
- Returns: Reports › Fulfillment › Customer Returns (FBA customer returns), the same six months or longer, downloaded as it is. It says which refunded units reached a warehouse, and in what condition.
Both files are read in this request and thrown away: nothing is saved and their names stay out of the logs. They hold order numbers but no buyer names or addresses.
Amazon's rules for refund claims
- The window: 60 to 120 days after the refund. Amazon reimburses most cases by itself in that time, so a claim before day 60 is refused; after day 120 it's too late.
- What counts: the unit never came back, or came back damaged by the carrier or a fulfillment center. Amazon goes by the condition it arrives in, not the buyer's reason; a unit the buyer damaged isn't a claim.
- What it pays: the refund less the order's fees, for each unit.
- Products Amazon refunds without a return (many consumables and cheap items): those refunds aren't reimbursed. The checker leaves out a product when over 20% of its 10+ refunds neither came back nor were paid.
The FBA reimbursement rules guide covers lost and damaged inventory and shipments too, and the reimbursement deadline calculator works out any claim's last day.
Refund reimbursement questions
Why does a refund show "too late"?
Its 120 days passed with no reimbursement in your payments. Amazon won't take the claim now: it's money lost. Checking every few weeks catches them in time.
Amazon paid a refund I see listed. Why?
A reimbursement lands in the payout after Amazon posts it, sometimes a couple of weeks later. Make sure the payment report runs to today; the checker counts any reimbursement on the order.
