| $499.99 | $75.00 | 15% | $424.99 |

What to watch when you price
- Above $500.00 the whole price pays 8%. A $500.01 sale pays $40.00, $35.00 less than the $75.00 a $500.00 sale pays.
- The $0.30 minimum is more than the percentage below $2.00, so very cheap items pay a bigger share: $0.30 on a $1.49 item is 20.1%.
- Shipping counts. The fee is on the total the buyer pays, so shipping and gift wrap the buyer pays on a merchant-fulfilled order are charged at this category's rate too (and can push the price into the next band). Sales tax isn't.
When you refund a buyer
Amazon gives back the referral fee minus its refund administration fee, the lesser of $5.00 or 20% of the referral fee. On a $499.99 Lawn Mowers and Snow Throwers sale, the $75.00 referral fee comes back as $70.00.
