Amazon search term report checker

Upload the search term report from your Amazon Ads console. In seconds it shows the searches your own ad groups bid against each other on, which ones to send to their exact keyword with a negative exact, the searches that spend without selling, and the ones that deserve their own keyword. Nothing is stored: the file is read and thrown away.

Your search term report

To get it: Amazon Ads console › Measurement & reporting › Sponsored ads reports › Create report › Sponsored Products, report type Search term, last 30 days › download when it's ready.

Example: a coffee-gear store's month $146.75 spent on searches to funnel or cut, of $473.50 in the report
To funnel2$80.10

New keywords2sold 7 times

2 searches bought by more than one ad group ($304.20). ACoS across the report: 21.3%. An average order brings $59.97.

Send to the exact keyword

These searches have their own exact keyword, but another ad group bought them too, at an ACoS no better. A negative exact for the search in that ad group sends it to the exact keyword only. Check both ad groups advertise the same product. 1 search left out: they sell cheaper where they are than on the exact keyword.

Spent with no sale

Searches that cost more than an average order brings ($59.97) without a single sale. A negative exact for each, in the ad groups that bought it, stops the spend; an ASIN is a product page: add it as a negative product target.

Worth their own keyword

Searches that sold 2 times or more in broad, phrase or automatic ad groups with no exact keyword of their own. Add each as an exact keyword (an ASIN as a product target) at about what its clicks cost now, then funnel it there.

Bought by more than one ad group

When several of your ad groups can show an ad for the same search, they bid against each other and its numbers are split. The ones above with an exact keyword can be funneled; for the rest, pick the ad group that does best with it.

How it decides

In the example, the exact keyword pour over coffee maker runs at 16.5% ACoS, while the automatic and broad ad groups bought the same search at 29.3% and 45.5%: both get a negative exact for it. The automatic ad group sells ceramic pour over cheaper than its exact keyword does, so that one stays. coffee filters #4 spent $66.65 on 31 clicks with no sale, more than an average order ($59.97), and pour over coffee set sold 4 times with no exact keyword.

Your report stays yours

The file is read on our server while the page loads and then thrown away: nothing from it is saved, and you don't need an account. Search term reports hold no shopper details, only searches and your own campaign numbers.

Search term report questions

Which period should I download?

The last 30 days, leaving out the last two: Amazon keeps adding sales to a click for 7 days, so the newest days look worse than they are. A longer period gives small searches time to show what they do.

Why negative exact and not negative phrase?

A negative exact blocks one search (and its close variations); a negative phrase blocks every search containing it, which can switch off searches that sell. Amazon allows up to 10 words for a negative exact and 4 for a negative phrase, 80 characters each. The negative keywords guide covers when each fits.

How soon does a negative work?

Amazon says negative keywords can take up to 72 hours to take effect, and negative product targets up to 96 hours.

Can this run by itself?

The profit autopilot in MyProfit does the funneling every day from your Amazon Ads data, knowing which products each ad group advertises, and sets each bid from the product's real margin (see the PPC bid optimization guide).
