How MyProfit works out profit
Sales, Amazon fees, landed cost, ads, refunds: what goes in, and why it can differ from Seller Central.
The formula
On the Overview and the Profit & loss statement:
Net profit = Sales − Amazon fees − Cost of goods − Ad spend − Refunds − Promo discounts − Storage fees + Reimbursements
| Line | What it is |
|---|---|
| Sales | Units shipped × the item price. Orders that haven't shipped, and cancelled orders, add nothing yet. |
| Amazon fees | Referral, FBA fulfilment and other per-order fees. See Estimated, then settled below. |
| Cost of goods | Units shipped × your landed cost, less units returned to sellable stock. |
| Ad spend | Sponsored Products campaign cost, if Amazon Ads is connected. |
| Refunds, promo discounts | What you refunded buyers and the promotions you funded. |
| Storage fees | FBA storage fees from your settlements, by the day Amazon posted them. |
| Reimbursements | What Amazon paid you back for lost or damaged inventory. |
Margin = net profit ÷ sales. ROI = net profit ÷ cost of goods. TACoS = ad spend ÷ all sales. ACoS = ad spend ÷ ad-attributed sales.
Estimated, then settled
When an order arrives, MyProfit uses Amazon's fee estimate for it. When Amazon pays you (in the settlement, usually every two weeks), MyProfit swaps in the fees Amazon actually charged, plus any refunds and promotions on that order. So a recent week can move a little once it settles.
Settlements load for North American accounts. For Europe, fees stay as Amazon's estimates for now, and storage fees and reimbursements from settlements don't appear.
Why it can differ from Seller Central
- Days are Pacific time. An order at 11 pm in New York is the same day in MyProfit, but it may land on the next day in reports that use UTC.
- Sales count shipped units. Seller Central's sales dashboard counts ordered units, including orders not shipped yet.
- Orders count every order placed in the period, shipped or not, including cancelled ones.
- Storage fees are by account region. North America's storage fees show whichever North American marketplace you're viewing.
- Ad sales are Amazon's 7-day attributed sales.
Per-product numbers
On Products, a product's net profit is its profit before ads minus that product's own Sponsored Products spend. Account-level costs such as storage aren't split across products there, so product totals won't exactly add up to the Overview.
